Nearly four months after Sean “Diddy” Combs was forced to give up his key to New York City, it looks like his reign in yet another major city is about to wrap up as well.
According to TMZ, the disgraced Bad Boy mogul will be expected to return his key to Miami Beach soon in light of his federal arrest, federal indictment and mountain of legal troubles. City officials are reportedly in the final planning stages for his rescinding of the key and expect for it to happen soon — though things have been delayed due to the threat of Hurricane Milton, which ravaged the state Wednesday night through Thursday morning.
Diddy was granted the key back in 2015 by then-Mayor Philip Levine at welcome ceremony for the Revolt Music Conference. In 2016, the city dubbed Oct. 13 “Sean Diddy Combs Day,” per Complex. There’s been no word on whether or not the day will be officially removed.
As previously reported by The Root, in June, New York City Mayor Eric Adams put Diddy on blast when announcing that he would be getting the key back from him, saying at the time: “I strongly condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with all survivors of domestic and gender-based violence.”
The statement was in response to the now-viral video that showed the “I’ll Be Missing You” producer assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a hotel in 2016.
However, in an ironic twist, Adams was met with a similar fate as he was federally indicted at the tail end of September for and is being formally accused by federal prosecutors of allegedly taking bribes from the Turkish government. Adams’ indictment came exactly one week after Diddy’s.
