Dr. Edwin Moses, a distinguished Olympic Gold medalist and a Board Member of Sports Equity Lab (SEL), has arrived in Ghana to show his support for the ‘Victory in Unity’ initiative. This campaign aims to honor six legendary African sports personalities.
Organized by Sports Equity Lab (SEL) and supported by the African Union Sports Council, Ghana’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Swiss Sportswear Company, ON, the event is scheduled to take place at the University of Ghana Stadium on Thursday, March 7th, 2024.
At Kotoka International Airport in Ghana, Dr. Moses shared that his visit was not by chance; he took a DNA test revealing his partial Ghanaian ancestry.

His presence in Ghana signifies solidarity with the 13th African Games and advocacy for the core values of Sports Equity Lab: equity, inclusivity, and integrity in sports. Dr. Moses also pressed sports governing bodies to ensure fair compensation for athletes who significantly contribute to the sports industry.
In a heartfelt message, he encouraged Black Americans living in Western nations to reconnect with their ancestral heritage for self-discovery.
Professor Dr. Yetsa Tuakli-Wosornu, the Founder of Sports Equity Lab, emphasized the organization’s dedication to promoting social justice and inclusivity in sports. She stated, “Our aim is to foster equity and social justice within the sports realm. Our events in Ghana have grown larger with each edition.”
Professor Wosornu highlighted the significance of using sports as a platform to uphold human rights and address societal disparities.
The event will honor distinguished figures such as Feryal Abdelaziz, Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe, Noemi Alphonse, Mpumelelo Mhlongo, Hellen Obiri, and Abedi Ayew Pele for their exceptional contributions to sports.
