The NBA season is back, which means the return of Charles Barkley. The outspoken Barkley participated in a TNT conference call on Monday, and it’s pretty obvious that he doesn’t have high expectations for the Los Angeles Lakers or the Atlanta Hawks.
On the Lakers:
Charles Barkley: “The #Lakers are the fourth-best team in California. They lucky the Sparks ain’t playing, they’d be the fifth.” #TNTNBA

To be fair, Barkley makes a good point. Most experts believe that the Lakers will be one of the worst teams in the Western Conference this season. The comment about the Sparks is a little much, though his comments about the Hawks might be a bit worse.
Charles Barkley doesn’t name Hawks in his East top 5. Ernie says, “Where’s Atlanta?” Barkley: “In Georgia. They will not be in the top 5.”

As a reminder, the Hawks won 60 games a season ago and made the Eastern Conference Finals. Barkley is predicting a much bigger drop-off than most.
It’s good to have the NBA back.
