Tennis star Naomi Osaka is shutting down internet speculation on whether or not she’s pregnant with her second child.
Posting in a video to TikTok this week in response to a commenter accusing her of being pregnant again, Osaka took less than a minute to debunk the comment and give insight into why she may not be birthing any more children any time soon, if at all.
“I just wanna say, I’m not preggos, but if I was, I wouldn’t want many more,” she explained. “Because giving birth was traumatic. But thank you, though, for your blessings.”
Osaka has been vocal about how tough her first pregnancy was in several interviews. Speaking to InStyle last fall, just four months after giving birth, she recounted how “hard” the journey was and just how painful the actual moment of pushing out her child was.
“I don’t think people know how hard pregnancy is; no one really talks about it as much,” she told the outlet. “Going into it, you kind of think: Oh, it’s this beautiful journey. But it’s kind of rough.”
After having been diagnosed with Group B streptococcus, experiencing delayed dilation, and an adverse reaction to medication just before giving birth Osaka recalled: “I do remember feeling in that moment, This is the worst pain of my life. And I know that if I get through this, then everything else will feel very easy.”
Osaka gave birth to her baby girl Shai, of whom she shares with rapper Cordae in July 2023. And while everything else after the pregnancy may be somewhat easy (save for her reacclimation back onto the tennis court, as she’s recently come out to share), it doesn’t look like a second bundle of joy is in the plans so we’ve really got to get past asking women about their bodies and babies.
