Swae Lee has clearly chosen a side in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
The Rae Sremmurd artist took to X on Saturday (July 27) to urge Black voters to “do research” before backing Vice President Kamala Harris by default. According to Lee, he feels “she don’t do nothing but sign off on things against” her “own people.”
Lee’s sentiments caught a ton of backlash, as many want to see Harris make history as the first woman and Black woman President.
“Do not vote for Kamala !!! Do your research on that whole camp,” he suggested.
In a series of posts, the “Black Beetles” artist wrote, “The money we sent away every American citizen could’ve got minimal 200 grand think about that, but I guess we don’t need the sh*t and yall standing for Kamala. My black people she don’t do nothing but sign off on things against yall ….(us) voting just cuz you think she’s black is not going to end in your favor.”
One person responded to the 31-year-old with, “Hate when u rapper ni**as only get your politics from other ni**as planted in your life for these exact moments in history.”
Lee responded, “Bro you voting for her cuz you think she’s black she’s black and Indian she she don’t lean to the black side she just took annestate away from a black woman yall don’t research go look at what trump did for blacks [HBCU’s] all type sh*t media don’t show everything bro.”
Lee’s support for Trump versus Harris follows many other Hip-Hop stars who’ve backed the former President of the United States.
Kanye West, Kodak Black, Azealia Banks, Chief Keef, Benny The Butcher, Sexyy Red, Waka Flocka and many others have publicly expressed their support for Trump, either vocally or by attending rallies. Those who have publicly backed Harris include Questlove, Tina Knowles, Cardi B, Fat Joe, Charlemagne Tha God and more.
“AHAHAHAHA LETS GOOOOO I TOLD YALLL KAMALA WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE 2024 candidate…..STOP FCKIN PLAYIN WITH ME !!!!!!!” the “Like What” rapper wrote on X, doubling down on her previous prediction that Harris would run for president.
