Remy Ma is breaking her silence when it comes to the recent arrest of her eldest son, Jayson Scott.
For context, 23-year-old Scott and another man are allegedly being accused of first-degree murder and are facing additional charges of criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment stemming from the death of a 43-year-old man named Darius Guillebeaux, an alleged NYC drug kingpin, back in June 2021, according to TMZ. Investigators are reportedly looking into the possibility that Guillebeaux’s death may have been a “hit job,” though they haven’t confirmed that yet.
In a statement given to TMZ, Remy said on Juneteenth:
“We stand by JaySon’s innocence and pray that the NYPD will conduct a complete and thorough investigation to reveal the truth. This is undoubtedly a difficult time for my family and me. While we sincerely appreciate the love and support we have received from all of you, we kindly ask for privacy as our legal team works to prove JaySon’s innocence.
As his mother, I want to address this situation personally but have been strongly advised by his legal counsel not to say anything — as most people in similar situations are informed by their attorneys due to it being an active case.”
Scott is being represented by his mother’s attorney Dawn Florio who previously represented Remy back in April 2019 when she was arrested for allegedly attacking her Love & Hip-Hop: New York co-star Brittney Taylor.
As previously reported by The Root, Remy turned herself in to New York City police to face a misdemeanor assault charge for allegedly punching Taylor in the face during a concert at New York’s Irving Plaza. She denied the allegations.
