RAPID CITY, S.D. (KEVN) – If you are someone who was displaced after the Memorial Park Apartments crash, you may be getting some relief.
Thursday, a donation presentation was held at the Black Hills Area Community Foundation to assist those affected by the crash.
KOTA Territory News and the Black Hills Regional Job Fair donated $2,000 to the cause.
On April 9, a car going 117 miles per hour crashed into the Memorial Park Apartments complex on Haines Avenue. Causing some residents to evacuate to a nearby hotel.
The presentation also included a representative from South Dakota State University Extension and the foundation’s Director of Community Impact Carrie Robley.
The Job Fair’s Committee Chair Jennifer Williams-Curl says it’s important to provide relief to community members in need.
”As a community, it’s really important to know that you belong and people want you here. And so having the community come together and provide money to help with some expenses you couldn’t have planned for, I think is going to be crucial just to help build that sense of community,” says Williams-Curl.
