Usher has shared insights into his much-anticipated Super Bowl performance.
The Grammy-winning artist is all set to take the stage on February 11 for the Super Bowl halftime show. He has unveiled the setlist for the performance and hinted at some exciting surprise guests who will join him.
In a recent interview with Good Morning America, Usher discussed what fans can expect from his show. He expressed, “To feature R&B prominently at the Super Bowl is a significant moment for me.
“I reflect on the struggles Black artists have faced in the past; having to navigate through back entrances just to perform and then sneak out of venues, always carrying the fear of their safety as they moved to the next show.”
“With this performance, I am determined to come in through the front entrance. I am mindful of all the R&B talents who are representing this era.”
Usher previously mentioned that his preparation for the Super Bowl has been a lifelong journey. In an interview with Extra, he shared, “When I received the invitation, I felt like all the hard work I’ve put in throughout my career has led to this moment. The groundwork didn’t start just a couple of years ago in Las Vegas.
“It began 30 years back, and my dedication to my craft and the musical path I’ve taken is why I’ve been given this opportunity.”
On a different note, Usher also mentioned a potential collaboration with Jay-Z, Pharrell Williams, and Diddy. He revealed, “There were talks about forming a supergroup with Jay-Z, Pharrell, and Diddy. It was an exciting idea. We were in discussions and having secret meetings about it.”
