Brittish Williams, former star of “Basketball Wives LA,” faced legal issues when she was arrested for not turning herself in to serve her four-year prison sentence following a conviction on fraud charges. After a delay in starting her sentence, the reality TV personality appeared in court this week.
As reported by The Omaha World Herald, Williams appeared before a judge and expressed regret, explaining that a miscommunication about a request to postpone her report date led to her failure to appear on time. Her attorney, Michael J. Thompson, based in Chicago, clarified to the court that it was not Williams’ intention to disregard the court’s order.
During the hearing, Thompson stated, “I would apologize to the court on Ms. Williams’ behalf.”
Following her arrest on January 12, Williams had been held in a local jail until her court appearance this week. The purpose of the hearing was for the judge to revoke her bond, allowing her to be transferred to a minimum-security camp in West Virginia to serve her sentence.
Despite the upcoming prison term, Williams’ legal team has indicated their intention to appeal her sentence, as mentioned in court filings.
